This 59-unit affordable independent living facility was designed in Victorian period style to complement the neighborhood architecture, including the historic Carnegie Library of Homestead. Sota Construction was chosen to be the project's contractor early in the design development stage and value-engineered many aspects of the project. Numerous energy-saving features were included, among them a water source heat pump for the HVAC system, low-e windows, air barrier wrap, and high insulation values throughout. Features include a central dining room for meal service, a grand entry staircase, a greenhouse, a library, and games and crafts areas.
Munhall Retirement Residence received a Best of Seniors Housing Award from the National Association of Home Builders in 1999.
